Bible Verses About Temptation
Verses for the moment of pull — the way of escape, the sympathetic Saviour, the sure promises.
Temptation is common to man — the Bible says so plainly — and so is the God who limits it, provides exits from it, and sympathises from inside human experience. These verses are equipment.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
The triple promise: common, limited, and always with a way to escape.
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
He suffered being tempted — so he runs to help the tempted.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
The order matters: submit to God first, then resist.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Watch and pray — the spirit willing, the flesh needing help.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Scripture stored in the heart is sin prevented in advance.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Tempted in all points, yet without sin — so come boldly for mercy.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
Strategy, not heroics: avoid the path entirely.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Walk in the Spirit, and the flesh's demands lose their grip.
The way of escape is real, and it is usually the door you take early. Watch, pray, and remember who stands with you in the pull — he has been here, and he did not lose.
