A Prayer for a Future Spouse
For the one you may one day marry — and for who you are becoming meanwhile.
To pray for a future husband or wife is to love someone you have not yet met — and to be shaped for them meanwhile. This prayer is for the single-and-hoping season.
The prayer
Father, if marriage is part of your plan for me, I pray today for the person I may one day marry — wherever they are, whatever they are facing.
Watch over them. Grow their faith, guard their heart, and prepare them gently, as I ask you to prepare me.
Make me the kind of person worth being married to — patient, faithful, quick to forgive, secure in you and not in them. Let my contentment rest in you first.
And if singleness is your good gift for a season or a lifetime, make me whole and fruitful in it. Either way, you are enough. I trust your timing and your goodness. Amen.
