Those in the armed forces, and the families who wait for them, carry a particular weight. This prayer is for them — for protection, courage, and the longing for home.
The prayer
Father, I bring before you those who serve — far from home, in harm's way, doing hard duty most of us never see.
Be their refuge and their fortress. Protect their bodies and their minds; give courage in danger and clear judgement under pressure. Bring them safely home.
Sustain the families who wait — the empty chairs, the anxious nights, the children counting sleeps. Be near to those who love someone in uniform.
Comfort the wounded, honour the fallen, and hold the ones who carry invisible scars long after the service ends. Grant peace, Lord — and until then, be their shield. Amen.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
