A Prayer for God's Forgiveness
A prayer of honest confession — bringing what you did into the mercy of God.
Guilt wants you to hide; grace invites you to confess. The promise is unambiguous: if we confess, he is faithful and just to forgive.
The prayer
Father, I have sinned, and I am done minimising it. You know what I did; now hear me say it before you plainly.
I am sorry — not merely for consequences, but for the wrong itself, against you and against those it touched.
You promise that if I confess, you are faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse. I claim that promise now, on the merit of Jesus and nothing of mine.
So I receive your forgiveness — and I refuse the counterfeit guilt that lingers after real pardon. Make me clean, make me changed, and let me walk out of this prayer free. Amen.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Faithful and just to forgive — the cleansing is his character, not your achievement. It is done; live forgiven.
