A Prayer for Anxiety
A short, honest prayer to pray when worry is loud and you need to hand it over.
When anxiety takes the wind out of you, it can be hard to find your own words. This is a simple prayer you can borrow — read it slowly, or make it your own.
The prayer
Father, my mind will not be still, and my heart is heavy with things I cannot fix. You know every one of them before I name them.
I bring my worry to you now — not tidied up, not solved, just as it is. Where I have been carrying what was never mine to carry, help me set it down.
Quiet the noise within me. Steady my breathing. Remind me that you are near, that you are good, and that you have never once let me go.
Give me enough peace for this hour, and enough trust for the next. I will not be afraid, because you are with me. Amen.
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
You can return to this prayer as often as you need to today. Anxiety often comes in waves; so, mercifully, does grace.
