An Easter Morning Prayer
A prayer for resurrection morning — the empty tomb, and everything it changes.
Easter morning deserves more than a rushed getting-ready. This prayer is for the first quiet minutes of the day the tomb stood open.
The prayer
Father, he is risen — and this morning I stop to say it slowly. He is risen indeed.
Thank you for Friday's cross, where my debt was paid. Thank you for Sunday's tomb, standing open and empty, with death defeated inside it.
Because he lives, everything changes: my sins are gone, my grave is temporary, my hope is alive. Let me walk into this day — and every ordinary Monday after it — as a resurrection person.
Risen Lord Jesus, meet me today the way you met the women in the garden and the friends on the road: personally, gladly, alive. Alleluia. Amen.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
He is not here: for he is risen — six words that rewrote the world. Walk in them today.
