A Prayer for My Family

A home is built twice — once with hands, and every day after with patience, forgiveness, and prayer. This is a prayer for the second kind of building.
The prayer
Father, bless this family you have given me. You know each of us by name — our tempers and tendernesses, our worries and our jokes.
Let peace live within our walls. Make our home a place where it is safe to be honest, easy to laugh, and quick to forgive.
Guard us from the busyness that makes us strangers under one roof. Give us unhurried time with each other, and gratitude for it.
As for me and my house, we will serve you, Lord. Keep that our quiet, daily choice. Amen.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Choose you this day, the verse says — family faith is a decision renewed daily, and prayer is how it renews.
