A Prayer for Graduation
For a milestone reached — gratitude, direction, and courage for what's next.
Graduation closes one chapter and opens an uncertain one. This prayer is for the milestone — thankful for what is finished, and brave for what comes next.
The prayer
Father, thank you for bringing me (or my loved one) to this day — for the years of work, the help along the way, and the finish line finally reached.
I hand you the unwritten future that opens now. You have thoughts of peace toward me, and an expected end I cannot yet see; I will trust the plan even before I know it.
Give direction for the decisions ahead and courage for the unknowns. Keep me from measuring my worth by achievements, and root it in you instead.
Wherever the next chapter leads, go before me and come with me. Let me carry what matters most out into the world. Amen.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
I know the thoughts that I think toward you... thoughts of peace, and not of evil — the future is unknown to you, but not to him.
