A Prayer for Spiritual Growth
For a faith that goes deeper — roots, fruit, and steady growing.
Faith is meant to grow, not stall. This prayer is for the honest desire to go deeper with God — to want him more, and to become more like him.
The prayer
Father, I do not want to stay where I am. I want to know you better this year than last, and better next year than this. Grow me.
Send roots down into your word and your love, so what storms come find me anchored. Grow the fruit of your Spirit in me — the patience, the kindness, the self-control I cannot manufacture.
Show me the areas I have kept off-limits, and give me courage to hand them over. Use even the hard things to shape me, and waste nothing.
Let me grow in grace and in the knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ — steadily, all my days, until I see you face to face. Amen.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour — spiritual growth is slow and sure, like a tree, not sudden like a firework. Keep asking.
