A Prayer for Peace
A prayer for a restless heart — asking God for the peace the world cannot give.
This is a prayer for when your heart won't settle — when you need a peace that doesn't depend on your circumstances changing first.
The prayer
Lord, my heart is restless and my thoughts will not settle. I come looking for a peace I cannot manufacture on my own.
You have promised a peace that passes understanding — one that guards the heart even when nothing outside has changed. I ask for that peace now.
Still the striving in me. Loosen my grip on what I cannot control. Fix my mind on you, and let that be enough.
Keep me in perfect peace, Lord, because my trust is in you. Amen.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Peace, in Scripture, is less a feeling to chase than a Person to lean on. It comes as we keep turning our minds back to God — again and again, as often as they wander.
