The prayer
Father, you adopt the unwanted and make them heirs; you are the pattern for what we are doing. Walk with us through this.
Watch over the child at the centre of it all — their history, their heart, the losses they carry even into a loving home. Bind up their wounds and let them feel, in time, truly and forever safe.
Give patience for the waiting, wisdom for the decisions, and endurance for the paperwork, the setbacks, and the questions without answers.
Knit this family together with a love thicker than biology. Let this child know they were chosen — by us, and by you. Amen.
