Philippians 1:6 Meaning

Philippians 1:6 is a promise for anyone discouraged by their own slow progress. Paul assures us that our growth in faith rests on God's commitment, not merely our own.

“He which hath begun a good work in you.” The work of grace in your life was begun by God, not by you. Your faith itself is something he started — which means its origin is secure, rooted in his initiative.

“Will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” What God begins, he finishes. He does not abandon half-built work. The same God who started will carry it through all the way to the end, “the day of Jesus Christ.”

This is deeply steadying on days you feel stuck or backslidden. Your completion does not depend on your consistency but on God's faithfulness. He is not finished with you, and he does not leave his work undone.
