Romans 8:1 Meaning — No Condemnation in Christ

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 is one of the most freeing sentences ever written, and it lands like a verdict of acquittal.

No condemnation — none. For those in Christ, the sentence our sin deserved has already been served by him. The guilty verdict has been overturned, not because the charges were false but because the penalty was paid.

The little word now matters too: not one day, but already, at this moment. And it applies to them which are in Christ Jesus — those united to him by faith. If that is you, then whatever accusations rise from your past or your conscience, the highest court has ruled: no condemnation.
