1 Peter 5:7 Meaning
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
What does 1 Peter 5:7 mean?
1 Peter 5:7 is a favourite of worried hearts for good reason. In a few words it tells us what to do with our anxiety and why it is safe to do it.
“Casting all your care upon him.” The word “casting” is active and deliberate — like throwing a heavy load off your shoulders onto someone better able to carry it. And it is all your care, not the manageable portion. Nothing is too small or too large to hand over.
“For he careth for you.” This is the reason the casting is possible. We can offload our cares onto God because he is not indifferent — he genuinely cares about us. We are not bothering a busy God; we are trusting a loving one.
The verse quietly corrects a lie anxiety tells: that we must hold everything together ourselves. Peter says the opposite — release it to the One who is already carrying you, because your wellbeing matters to him.
