Jeremiah 33:3 Meaning — Call Unto Me, and I Will Answer

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3 is sometimes called God's telephone number, and it is a stunning invitation to pray.

It came to Jeremiah while he was imprisoned and the nation was collapsing — hardly a hopeful moment. Yet into that darkness God says: call, and I will answer. Prayer is not a last resort but a first invitation, extended even in the worst of times.

And God promises more than a bare answer: great and mighty things, which thou knowest not — things beyond our imagining or predicting. Prayer opens us to a God who does more than we ask. The verse is a summons to stop assuming and start asking.
